This is my note to myself. Stop waiting for people to notice that you’re special. You probably are but chances are that you are just as ordinary as the next person. Whatever. It should not be the deal-breaker for living life to the fullest. Stop waiting for people to push you to do what has been on your mind for so long. Do not wait for permission to be who you know yourself to be and stop waiting for someone else to spot the uniqueness within you. Some people might, but the truth is that everyone else is busy trying to figure themselves out.
There is never an ideal time to break out of the box that most of us have customized our lives to fit into. So the best time to do so is now. Because time flies and considers no-one. The people that end up living the most satisfied and fulfilled lives are the ones that understand the power of time. Time is the most abundant resource, given to all of us in the same measure and yet it seems to be the most scarce for many because when most people realize its value, it appears too late to put it to good use. And I say “appear” because appearance is not always reality and what appears is not always true. Time may be the most valuable resource but people often fail to realize this because its worth is revealed by what we add to it. Add hope to time, and you have a dream: a vision of what could be. Add faith to that dream, and you have belief: the conviction that what you cannot yet see will one day become real. Add action to belief, and you have movement: the willingness to turn what exists in your imagination into something tangible. And when that movement is sustained over time, you get progress. When progress compounds, you get results.
Perhaps that is the real power of time. Time itself does not create the life we want—it gives us the space in which hope can become a dream, a dream can become belief, belief can become action, and action can become reality. And hopes, dreams, belief, actions and reality can exist within and through us at anytime. The abundance of time and the possibilities it brings does not diminish just because we think “it’s too late” or that “we’re too old”.

So what am I trying to say? If you have time, which we all do, you have a starting point. If you have a dream, you also have hope which gave birth to the dream. Add action and consistent movement and results are inevitable. These results may sometimes align with what we dreamed but most times, you find that your movement leads to dreams evolving and every other step after that also evolving. It’s a cycle. There is no real end to it. But that is also the beauty of being human. We are not required to know exactly where the journey will lead before we take the first step. We simply keep putting one foot in front of the other. A dream does not have to remain unchanged to have been worth pursuing. An expectation does not have to be fulfilled exactly as imagined. What matters is that we begin.
Because there is something about the human heart that breaks when we repeatedly abandon the things that matter to us. We can convince ourselves that there is always more time, that we will do it later.
But “later” is still made of time, and time is passing whether we use it or not.
So instead of spending our lives wondering what could have been, perhaps we should give ourselves permission to do the things we have always wanted to do. To begin. To move. To try. To change our minds. To fail. To succeed. To evolve. To dream again.
Because every day, every hour, every minute, every second we postpone the life we want is a moment we will never get back. And that is why time matters and why it matters what we do with it.
